How ESG at Dwellworks Living Is Driving Progress in Corporate Housing

Our newly released 2024–2025 ESG Impact Report highlights the ways we are evolving corporate housing and temporary living solutions with a strong focus on sustainable accommodations, supplier engagement, and measurable and meaningful performance.

Our property portfolio partners, inventory managers and serviced apartment operators —are an essential part of this transformation. Together, we’re proving to our stakeholders that compliance, choice, and the customer experience can all thrive in a global sustainability framework.

An Approach to ESG from the “Outside-In” for Accommodations

At Dwellworks Living, our approach to ESG is both practical and purposeful. Over 90% of our current clients and prospective clients specify their preference to work with solutions partners who prioritize sustainability and have the capability to track and reduce carbon emissions. Our core values of integrity, teamwork, performance, innovation and fun are embedded into our ESG program, which is built around stakeholder guidance and realistic goals and actions.

Our sustainability goals for corporate housing are intentionally focused on supplier adoption of green-friendly environmental practices in their temporary living accommodations and on measurement tools that allow us as an industry to define baseline performance and establish a target for reducing our carbon footprint. We’re leading the effort to provide standardized data to clients for their own ESG reporting needs. Our approach is operational and efficient, but the results are strategic and have a high impact.

Global Supplier Collaboration: Getting Greener Together

Our curated network of over 80,000 supplier partners spans more than 125 countries. Each partner is hand-selected for their ability to meet our clients’ expectations for safety, security, service, and now—sustainability.

We survey our global supply chain every year to get an update on their sustainable practices. In 2024, we had a robust response from hundreds of our highest volume partners, 96% of whom are already managing their properties, serviced apartments and corporate housing units sustainably. Their initiatives include:

  • 76% offering onsite recycling and reuse programs
  • 65% offering sustainability education for guests and staff
  • 63% have installed more efficient alternative energy, water, and HVAC systems
  • 61% purchase furniture and furnishings from sustainable suppliers
  • 55% have installed energy efficient appliances

We support our partners with tools and insights to elevate their own ESG efforts, including:

  • Webinar trainings on ESG and Sustainability practices in corporate housing
  • ESG-readiness checklists to align property operations with client expectations
  • Consultations with our supply chain and sustainability teams
  • Participation in our Supplier Recognition Program, spotlighting properties that demonstrate leadership in sustainability, guest satisfaction, and innovation

By year end 2025, we will present our clients and customers with options that meet our core sustainability expectations. We’re making it easier for our suppliers to align with client expectations and for our clients to meet their own sustainability targets.

A Game-Changing Carbon Calculator for Corporate Housing

Dwellworks Living is proud to co-chair the Sustainability Task Force of the Corporate Housing Providers Association (CHPA). In this education and advocacy role, we were pivotal in the development of the temporary living industry’s only objective and use-based carbon calculator for analyzing the carbon cost of a stay in alternative accommodations. Building on the framework established by GBTA and Greenview, our industry has now launched a calculator hosted by CHPA that will be available free of charge to all suppliers.

Dwellworks Living was an early and significant financial and content contributor to the development of the calculator, and throughout 2025 will be encouraging participation by our supply chain in obtaining a carbon footprint assessment for their properties. A data-led approach to sustainability aligns with the Dwellworks Living ESG initiative overall: measurable, practical and in line with stakeholder requirements.

ESG for All the Expectations of Global Mobility and Travel

Whether it’s in response to a corporate travel buyer’s RFP or in support of the goals of the relocation industry’s Coalition for Greener Mobility, Dwellworks Living and Dwellworks are delivering on ESG and sustainable business practices.

Our ESG initiatives include more than data and reporting. Our 2024-2025 ESG Impact Report captures recent innovations in product design and our investment in Dwellworks and Dwellworks Living as an employer of choice, attracting high talent, high purpose associates to our organization, as well as appealing to corporate housing suppliers who want to be part of our global network.

A few highlights from this year’s report include:

  • Increased adoption of digital destination services among Dwellworks clients, allowing us to better manage property tours while lowering Scope 3 emissions
  • Our Destination Services Transformation (DST) project to simplify and standardize core processes, including the deployment of AI-assets
  • Associate-led community engagement with housing and human services organizations, including food banks and educational institutions
  • Governance leadership, from our Codes of Conduct to our participation in the UN Global Compact, to our role as Lead for the WERC Global Compliance and Legal Forum

Our stakeholders have come to expect ESG leadership from Dwellworks Living and Dwellworks across environmental, social, and governance initiatives, and we meet those expectations across the board, focusing on risk-management and opportunity-development for our global stakeholders.

Looking Ahead: Standardizing ESG in Practice

Our stakeholders have made clear that the principles of good governance, social responsibility, and sustainable operations are core to their expectations for providers of corporate housing solutions. Individual projects may change based on evolving priorities, but the demonstrated capability to source comfortable, competitively priced and sustainable housing options, measure and reduce carbon footprint impact, connect meaningfully with customers, and meet all compliance and governance regulations are standards that will define excellence in temporary living now and into the future.
